1111 E 7th Archive

Under the asphalt siding and shingles stood a beautifully constructed I-House that once had a full-length, two-story porch across the front. Wood framing, wood floors and heavy timber beams on limestone piers had not been treated kindly by time or termites, and the house was salvaged in early 2019, revealing a trap door in the original kitchen floor and the sequence of back porches being enclosed for a bathroom and a hallway. Before the salvage process began we documented the house and the property so that its memory would not be lost. A copy of the archive and salvage documents are located in the Texas Room of the Georgetown Public Library.
